This research aims to synthesize the components of ecotourism management indicators aligned with Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs). A qualitative documentary research method was employed by collecting and selecting 32 relevant documents, which were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key indicator issues. The identified indicators were then categorized into components according to the main principles of OECMs.
The results showed that ecotourism management that is in line with OECMs can be broken down into four principles, eleven components, and thirty indicators. These are: (1) the spatial significance of tourism sites (2 components, 5 indicators), (2) sustainable tourism management (3 components, 12 indicators), (3) biodiversity-oriented long-term tourism management (4 components, 10 indicators), and (4) economic and social value (2 components, 3 indicators). The results highlight the crucial role of community and stakeholder participation in effective ecotourism management. The developed indicator components can serve as a foundation for establishing assessment criteria for ecotourism sites toward OECMs recognition. This work contributes to the implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, which set the global “30x30 Target” to effectively conserve at least 30% of terrestrial and marine areas by the year 2030.
