Results of an Experiment on the Use of Credit Bank System to Improve the Learners’ Quality and Enhance their Basic Education

Abstract

       This research aimed at investigating an experiment of the implementation of the management model, its processes, and strategies on the basic education institutions where the credit bank system developed by the Office of Education Council was piloted. The researcher conducted an experiment with basic education pilot schools in formal education, informal education, and non-formal education contexts under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education as well as the local administration organizations. A total of 11 schools were purposively sampled from Muang Tak and Mae Sott District. The researcher collected the data from six different sources:  1) document synthesis 2) focus group discussions 3) Workshops for the purpose of listening to comments and preparing the test criteria 4) lesson learned workshops 5) follow-ups and on-site supervision of the schools and 6) verbal correspondence through communication technologies such as Line Application and telephone.

      The results were divided into two effects – effects on the schools and effects on the learners. The effects on schools were the creation networks and memorandum of understanding (MOU) among the schools for the creation of knowledge building and experience transfer. Among the effects on the learners were the provision of educational opportunities for those who would like to return to schooling and other educational opportunities.
