Folk Songs in Kamphaeng Phet Province: Words and Figure of Speech Strategy

Abstract

The article is part of a research called “Language Strategy and Culture Reflection from Folk Songs appeared in Kamphaeng Phet Province”. This research was aimed to study word strategy as well as the figure of speech. Research Sample from 209 folk songs found in Kamphaeng Phet Province. Analyzed the data following the word mechanism and Figure of Speech mechanism concept.  The result regarding language strategy use in the said folk songs on the wording aspect indicated 8 types of word used in the folk song which were informal, onomatopoeia, royal, abbreviated, words that describe the identities of Kamphaengphet, expressive, dirty, and local words, researchers found 10 types of figure of speech included of simile, onomatopoeia, allusion, metaphor, hyperbole, personification, paradox, symbol, synesthesia, and metonymy.
