Evaluation of Elderly Caregiver Training Courses at Mae Mok Sub District Thoen, Lampang Province

Abstract
This research study had an objective to evaluates the results of the elderly caregiver training courses at Mae Mok Sub-district, Thoen District, Lampang Province. It is a quantitative and qualitative research. This study collected data primarily from those involved in the preparation of the course syllabus development, implementation of the training courses, and provision of post-training service. Questionnaires, in-depth interviews and focus groups were used as research tools. The data were analyzed using percentages, mean scores, standard deviation, analytic induction, and analytical description. The study results showed that the evaluation participants were highly satisfied with all four evaluated aspects of the training courses: (1) context, (2) inputs, (3) process, and (4) outputs. The study findings also revealed that the training courses’ strengths supported the participants' level of satisfaction. The strengths of the training courses were as follows: (1) participation-The courses were well designed and organized by involving community members, civil society, medical institution personnel, and health care personnel with the application of the wisdom of Thai traditional massage as well; (2) learning-The training courses focused on both theory and practice. The course engaged several internship programs and qualified instructors who are role models in supporting the elderly with love and understanding.; (3) reputation - After the completion of the training, the graduates were attracted to jobs and employment due to their high reputation of volunteer spirit and service love.; and (4) outcomes – The training courses had changed the caregivers’ lives. They were employed and earned a salary. They caregivers were proud of themselves as they were well accepted and respected in the community. They were happy to contribute and work for their community and able to make use of the community’s natural capital.
