An Empirical Study of Developmental Assets for Children and Youth in Northeastern Thailand

Abstract

A research on the cost of living of children and youth in the northeastern region of


Thailand. The objective is to study the level of cost of life and the key factors of cost of life for children and youth is a quantitative research. An empirical study explores levels and factors affecting developmental assets of children and youth in Northeastern Thailand. Use of the survey questionnaire with a total of 459 adolescents and youth. The study revealed that overall factors accounted an average of 69.20%. The five powers represented Family (79.21%), Self (73.27%), Wisdom (69.04), Peer (65.90%), and Community (58.58%). However, Community was substandard whereas some important components including age, parental status, persons the adolescents and youth live with and whom they are closest, and frequency of participating in activities were statistically significant. The frequency of participating in different activities affects the cost of life for children and youth at a statistically significant difference at the .05 level.
