The inheritance of Mangala musical instruments making in Phitsanulok Province

Abstract

This research article was a part of the research on the making process of Mangala musical instruments in Phitsanulok. The qualitative research methodology was used in this study and the objective was to study the inheritance of the making Mangala musical instrument in Phitsanulok. It was found that the inheritance of the Mangala musical instrument has 2 periods: First, inheritance by local musician who made musical instruments by themselves with close relationship to musical instruments. The knowledge of making instruments was teach by oral transmission. Second period, inheritance in education system during the transition period into the education system. Musicians change their status from players to students or college students, who lack a relationship with musical instruments. they are unable to develop themselves to become musical instrument makers. that is a factor affect to development of music instrument maker be able to be outstanding in system of creation with a good quality. The process of making Mangala instruments has inherited from the past to the present until it is the identity of Phitsanulok.
