ASEAN and the Cooperation under the Outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019

Abstract

This article presents the issue of ASEAN and the Cooperation under the outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The author frames the concept through the outbreak of COVID-19 by explaining in the context of the environment that the nation-state has cooperated at a regional level in managing this emerging disease problem. The issues presented include: 1. An Introduction to the context of COVID-19 pandemic as well as the issues of situations and crisis perspectives, a major challenge for ASEAN to play a role in responding and overcoming the problems of the outbreak. 2. The COVID-19 epidemic crisis in ASEAN, which shows the number of infected and fatalities caused by the outbreak of COVID-19 until bringing a reflection of the damage to the economy, society and security of the states. 3. Policies on response to the COVID-19 outbreak of each country in ASEAN points out the policies of responding to the situation of the COVID-19 outbreak of all ten member countries on the basis of varied policies and measures depending on internal factors. 4. ASEAN's cooperation mechanism under the COVID-19 outbreak has led to awareness of social stability among ASEAN countries. This urged ASEAN, as an international organization, to mutually discuss on the creation of an international cooperation mechanism under the agreement of the ASEAN will, which creates a special agency to control and cease the problem of the epidemic.
