Abstract

This research aimed to (1) to study the problems, needs, and basic potential of bee farmers, (2) to organize enhancing activities of bee farmers to the community enterprise standards, and (3) to supervise and monitor the entry into the community enterprise standards of the bee farmers in Na Ngio sub-district, Sang Khom district, Nong Khai province. Mixed methods research combines elements of quantitative research and qualitative research was employed in the study. The findings revealed that bee farmers had the potential for honey production in terms of group production in a beekeeping-friendly environment, but they lacked knowledge of group governance, the necessary beekeeping skills, the ability to produce standardized packaging, and a long-term development strategy for the group. As a result, training sessions were organized to address the issues and encourage the group to apply to become a community enterprise. According to the follow-up to the training results, it was found that the bee farmers successfully devised a standardized group management structure and a sustainable development plan for the group focusing on beekeeping knowledge, packaging, finance, marketing, processing, and other areas. Additionally, they submitted an application to register a community enterprise under the name "Roi Phu Wild Honey Community Enterprise". Main recommendations, namely using the process of analyzing problems, needs and potential as a guideline for developing occupational group and making urgent, medium and long-term activity plans to develop occupational group towards sustainability.
