Abstract

The objective of this research was to study the conducting technique of conductor in wind band. It is qualitative research by researching, analyzing, synthesizing information from documents. Field data and select key informants using the purposive sampling method, including 4 conductors, data were collected through individual interviews. The research tool used was an in-depth interview form. The obtained data was then analyzed and synthesized to find conducting technique of conductor in wind band. The results of the study found that conductors should have knowledge of conducting. It consists of important parts: posture techniques, rehearsal techniques and acting techniques. There is also standing posture and body movement. The role and duties of the conductor as well as techniques for conducting using the baton stick. Including leadership must be able to instill confidence in musicians.
