As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text is 1.5-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Where available, DOIs are required in references.
  • Research ethics have been strictly adhered to.

THAITESOL Journal accepts academic articles and research papers typed in English between 5,000 and 7,000 words (excluding references and appendix) and book reviews no longer than 2,000 words in length, using 11 point size of Times New Roman and 1.5 line spacing. References in articles should conform to the requirements of the APA 7th referencing system.

Article Submission Guidelines

Research Articles

Submitted research articles must be based on recent empirical studies within the fields of language education or TESOL. Manuscripts should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words (excluding references and appendices) and must include no more than 30 references. Each article should be preceded by an abstract of no more than 250 words.

Academic Articles

Academic articles should offer a comprehensive review of current topics in language education disciplines. These articles should engage in discussions and debates relevant to the fields specified in ABOUT US. The manuscript, including references, should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words, accompanied by an abstract of approximately 250 words.

Book Reviews

THAITESOL Journal welcomes critical reviews of recent publications in language education. Book review manuscripts, including references, should not exceed 2,000 words

Declaration of Generative AI in the Writing Process

Authors are allowed to only use generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies to improve readability and language. Authors must disclose the use of generative AI and AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by adding a statement at the end of their manuscript before the References list. The statement should be placed in a new section entitled ‘Declaration of Generative AI in the Writing Process.'

Statement: The author(s) employed [NAME TOOL / SERVICE] to [REASON] during the preparation of this work. Following its use, they carefully reviewed and revised the content to ensure accuracy, coherence, and alignment with the intended purpose. The author(s) take full responsibility for the final version of the publication.

This declaration does not apply to the use of basic tools for checking grammar, spelling, references, etc. If there is nothing to disclose, there is no need to add a statement.
