Guidelines for Class Scheduling General Education Courses in University of Phayao

Abstract

The objectives of this qualitative research were to 1) study the present condition and the problem of teaching and learning about timetable management in general education courses at the University of Phayao and 2) investigate the guidelines on teaching and learning about timetable management in general education courses at the University of Phayao. Data was collected from the administrators, lecturers, and staff involved with general education courses through purposive sampling using a semi-structured and in-depth interview. Content analysis was applied in the data analysis process.

The results showed 1) the present condition and the problem of teaching and learning about management in general education courses. In group 1 (Student), most problems were that teaching and learning times needed to be more suitable, the division of students into groups, the lack of consistency in teaching and learning, and the ordering of the courses in general deviation courses. In group 2 (Lecturer), most of the problems found were teaching and learning hours overlapping courses of each department, the number of lecturers was not suitable for the number of students, which was not clear, 2) the guidelines on teaching and learning about the timetable management in general education courses, namely “SPACE” consisting of S = student, P = policy, A = activity, C = communication and E = environmental
