Intellectual development at the basic education level according to the principles of the 7 Sappurisadhamma

Abstract

This article aims to investigate the relationship between the Seven Virtues of a Good Person (Sappurisadhamma 7) and the development of wisdom in Buddhism.It analyzes the potential of these principles to enhance learning among students at the basic education level
and proposes guidelines for applying them in Buddhist-based learning to cultivate learners with moral wisdom. The study adopts the framework of the Threefold Training (Sīla, Samādhi, Paññā) to integrate the Seven Virtues, which include self-knowledge, understanding of Dhamma, sense of timing, moderation, community awareness, interpersonal understanding, and procedural knowledge, into cognitive, emotional, and behavioral dimensions to foster 21st-century learner attributes. The findings indicate that learning activities linking the Seven Virtues with Active Learning, Buddhist learning practices, and Self-Reflection Learning effectively develop learners’ wisdom, compassion, and life balance.
