Ethical Leadership of School Administrators and Its Effects on Organizational Climate: The Damnoen Saduak School Network under Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office

Abstract

This article aimed to study (1) the ethical leadership of school administrators; (2) the organizational climate in schools; (3) the relationship between the ethical leadership of school administrators and the organizational climate in schools; and (4) the ethical leadership of school administrators affecting the organizational climate in schools. This study was quantitative research. The sample consisted of 169 school administrators and teachers in the Damnoen Saduak School Network under Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2. They were selected by proportional stratified random sampling based on the sample size determined by Krejcie and Morgan’s table. The instrument for collecting data was a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The research results were found as follows;


  1. The ethical leadership of school administrators in the Damnoen Saduak School Network under Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2 was overall at a high level, with a mean of 4.31. When considered by aspect, sacrifice for the common good had the highest mean of 4.37, followed by responsibility at 4.33, being a good role model at 4.31, honesty at 4.30, and fairness at 4.25, respectively

  2. The organizational climate in schools in the Damnoen Saduak School Network under Ratchaburi Primary Educational Service Area Office 2 was overall at a high level, with a mean of 4.31. When considered by aspect, organizational structure had the highest mean of 4.39, followed by performance standards at 4.34, human relations at 4.29, and support at 4.22, respectively

  3. The ethical leadership of school administrators had a positive relationship with the organizational climate in schools at a very high level, with statistical significance at the .01 level.

  4. The ethical leadership dimensions affecting the organizational climate in schools were being a good role model, responsibility, honesty, and fairness. These variables jointly predicted the organizational climate in schools at 88.00 percent, with statistical significance at the .01 level.
