Components and Guidelines of Academic Administration to Enhance Professional Competencies of Students in Secondary Schools Under the Office of the Basic Education Commission

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the composition of the academic administration framework for enhancing the professional competence of students in secondary schools and 2) to study the guidelines for academic administration to enhance the professional competence of students in secondary schools. There were two steps which are: Step 1-Studied the elements of the framework of academic administration to enhance the professional competence of students in secondary schools. Research tools used were the document analysis form and the estimation scale questionnaire. The statistics used in the data analysis were mean and standard deviation. Step 2-Studied management guidelines to enhance the professional competence of students in secondary schools with best practices, including interviews with executives and the study of related documents. The conclusion of the research is as follows: 1) Components of academic administration to enhance professional competence of students in secondary schools consists of 9 frameworks, with a high average for all components, which are: (1) Curriculum development (2) Learning process development (3 ) Measurement and evaluation (4) Development and enhancement of learning resources, media and technologies for education (5) Educational supervision (6) Guidance (7) Research to improve the quality of education (8) Cooperation of educational institutions and other organizations, and (9) Development of internal quality assurance systems and educational standards. 2) Guidelines for academic administration to enhance the professional competence of students in secondary schools consist of 4 stages, which are: (1) Design stage (2) Implementation stage (3) Learning stage and (4) Improvement/development stage.
