Situations, Need Assessment and Guidelines for the Development of Teachers’ Digital Skills to Promote Teaching and Learning Management in the 21st century Under the Secondary Education Service Area Office Mukdahan

Abstract

The purposes of this research were (1) to examine the current situations and desirable situations for the development of teachers’ digital skills; (2) to assess the need assessment for the development of teachers’ digital skills; and (3) to develop the guidelines for the development of teachers’ digital skills. The research for development. The samples employed consisted of 275 school administrators and teachers, following Krejcie and Morgan's table in the sample size specification, and they were selected by Stratified Random Sampling. The instruments used in this research: The statistics employed were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and the index modified Priority Needs Index (PNI Modified). The results revealed that (1) the overall current situations of teachers’ digital skills were at a high level, and the overall desirable situations of teachers’ digital skills were at the highest level; (2) the top three average need assessment were skills in using digital for security, skills in using social media for education, and skills in using digital media creation programs; and (3) the guidelines for development of teachers’ digital skills to promote teaching and learning management in the 21st century The results of the overall evaluation development revealed the suitability and the possibility at the highest level.
