The Suitable Welfare for The Elderly in Different Ages Case Study of Singburi Municipality

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to investigate 1) the current situation of social welfare provision for the elderly in each age group; 2) the need for social welfare for the elderly in each age group; and 3) guidelines for providing social welfare for the elderly in each age group of Singburi Municipality. The sample consisted of 370 elderly people and 6 people involved in providing appropriate welfare for the elderly in each age group of Singburi Municipality. The instrument used was a questionnaire. The quantitative data was analyzed by using statistics, frequency values, and percentage values by group discussion. The qualitative data was analyzed by the creation of a conclusion analysis and content analysis. The findings showed that the current situation of social welfare provision for the elderly in each age group was that Singburi Municipality, together with Singburi Hospital, launched a project to provide long-term care services for the elderly with dependency and to distribute pension allowances to the elderly. In terms of the need for social welfare for the elderly in each age group, the aspect with the highest average for the youngest elderly group was the economy. The aspect with the highest average of the middle elderly group was the economy as well. The highest average of the oldest group was security in life. According to the study and data analysis, the researcher formulated the following guidelines: the SPCVC model consists of the Strong Elderly Club, Project for the elderly, a Center for improving the quality of life for the elderly, Vocational training for the elderly, and Caring for the elderly and vulnerable groups.
