Quality of Work Life of Police Officers: A Case Study of Tharuea Police Station

Abstract
This study aimed to 1) examine the levels of quality of work life of the police officers at Tharuea Police Station 2) to compare the levels of quality of work life of the police officers at Tharuea Police Station classified by personal factors. It is a survey research using a questionnaire to collect data. The population was a total of 158 police officers. Data analysis was carried out by performing statistical hypothesis tests using t-test, F-test and Scheffe’s Multiple Comparison test at significance level 0.05. The research results showed that 1. Overall, all of the eight aspects of quality of work life of the police officers at Tharuea Police Station were rated ‘high’ ( = 3.93, SD = .77). When considering each of the aspects, seven out of the eight aspects received high quality ratings while only one aspect received ‘moderate’ quality rating. The top three aspects that received high quality ratings were social integration, professional development and organizational democracy respectively. The aspect that received ‘moderate’ quality rating was suitable and sufficient compensation 2. It was found that Tharuea Police Station officers with different personal factors such as ages, lines of work and police ranks have overall different levels of quality of work life.
