Abstract

This research has the objective of studying the relationship between stress, depression, and suicide risk, including personal factors and causes of stress, among second-year preclinical medical students at Srinakharinwirot University. The sample consisted of 159 preclinical medical students at Srinakarinwirot University, obtained by simple random sampling. It is cross-sectional survey research. Statistics used in data analysis include frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Variables were compared using independent sample t-tests and ANOVA statistics. The research results found that the sample group consisted of 62 males (38.99%), 97 females (61.01%). Overall, stress was at a moderate level. There were statistically significant differences in stress and depression at the 0.05 level. Female medical students are stressed and depressed more than males, but there was no difference in suicide risk. As for medical students with different academic achievements, they are more likely to experience stress, depression, and suicide risk, which is no different. And the key factor that causes the most stress is the future. This comes from being anxious, pressured, and having expectations about their future in order to achieve the goals they have set.
