Abstract

This research was mixed-methods research through qualitative, quantitative, and creative design approaches. The objectives of this research were 1) to study the Sala Tuek community context, Thung Luk Nok Subdistrict, Kamphaeng Saen District, Nakhon Pathom Province; 2) to design media to promote learning about Sala Tuek community arts and culture through comic books, board games, and community maps; and 3) to build awareness and appreciate the value of culture in the community among youth. The results indicated that the Sala Tuek community is multicultural, practicing integrated agriculture, and has a unique cultural heritage. In terms of designing media to promote learning about Sala Tuek community culture, the results found that experts had opinions on the design of illustrated cartoon books with an overall mean rating of 4.76 (S.D.=0.03), board game design with an overall mean rating of 4.75 (S.D.=0.09)), and community map design with an overall mean rating of 4.80 (S.D.=0.12). The youth had opinions on the design of cartoon books with an overall mean rating of 4.61 (S.D.=0.03), board game design with an overall mean rating of 4.79 (S.D.=0.09), and community map design with 4.71 (S.D.= 0.13). The overall mean of promoting learning and value appreciation of community culture was 4.74 (S.D.=0.61). There were four important components in designing community cultural learning media for youth, namely: 1) youth; 2) homes, temples, and schools; 3) cultural capital in the community; and 4) national development policy. These have played an important element in conservation and development that creates sustainability in the community.
