Exploratory Factor Analysis of the City’s Potential for Success in Organizing an International Halal Exhibition: A Case Study of Songkhla Province

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study the potential of cities for success in organizing international halal exhibitions and 2) study the components of the survey of the potential of cities for success in organizing international halal exhibitions. This research was the mixed-method research, consisting of qualitative research through in-depth interviews with 17 experts and quantitative research through questionnaires from Thai Muslim participants who had experience in participating in halal trade fairs in Songkhla Province at least 2 times, using the Cochran sample calculation formula, totaling 400 people, using convenience sampling. The tools used were interview forms and questionnaires. The researcher analyzed basic data using descriptive statistics and analyzed the components of variables through exploratory factor analysis. The research results found that from studying the potential of cities and analyzing the components of the survey of city potential, six components could be analyzed, consisting of readiness of the venue for organizing halal exhibitions, readiness of agencies supporting the organization of the event, city image and prominence, personnel supporting the organization of the event, readiness of transportation and communication systems, and readiness of facilities for organizing the event, which could explain the success of organizing international halal exhibitions by 54.523 percent.
