Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the level of business operators' opinions on the development of packaging and preservation innovations for processed gourami products, and to identify guidelines for the development and promotion of packaging characteristics and preservation innovations for these products intended for export. This was a qualitative study. The key informants included business operators involved in the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) initiative and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Suphan Buri Province who distribute processed gourami products. A total of 20 participants were selected using purposive sampling. The data collection tool was a set of interview questions, and the data were analyzed using content analysis. The research findings revealed that the majority of business operators believed that two main factors influence the design of packaging and preservation innovations for processed gourami products: transportation factors and preservation factors. Regarding the guidelines for developing and promoting packaging and preservation innovations for exporting these products, the study suggests emphasizing the following characteristics: safety, durability, environmental friendliness, consumer appeal, and the use of innovation to maintain product quality.
