Abstract

This research aimed to develop soap formulations incorporating silk cocoon waste and Mango Nam Dok Mai extract to enhance antioxidant and tyrosinase inhibition properties. The study utilized local waste materials in accordance with circular economy principles. Mango Nam Dok Mai extract showed antioxidant activity and tyrosinase inhibition with IC₅₀ values of 778.01 ± 2.52 µg/mL (DPPH), 767.27 ± 1.36 µg/mL (ABTS), and 362.00 ± 5.89 µg/mL (tyrosinase inhibition). The extract also exhibited antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. A liquid soap was formulated with glycerin (70%), extract (25%), propylene glycol (1%), and silk waste (4%) at a pH of 5.0-5.5. Results indicate that the soap has potential as a cleansing product with skin-brightening properties and melanin-reducing effects, adding value to waste materials while promoting sustainable community enterprise development.
