Study Kabsaw of Teacher Payom Tinta Mueang District, Phrae Province

Abstract

The main aim of the research was to study the Kabsaw technique of Teacher Payom Tinta from the district in the Phrae Province. The purpose of this research was to study the biography, knowledge of music work and Kabsaw in the band or an ensemble” of Payom Tinta. The results revealed that :

Teacher Payom Tinta is a Thai wisdom teacher batch with a Bachelor of Arts (Kabsaw) from the office of the Education Council of the Ministry of Education. She is a professional in all aspects of Kabsaw for example, is good at the Kabsaw, such as the composition of saw songs and all rituals that are associated with the Kabsaw. Teacher Payom Tinta is an important person who can pass on kabsaw wisdom in Phrae Prevince both in and out of schools. The main purpose is to conserve and inherit the folk wisdom of Kabsaw for the people in Phrae Province. For those reasons she has composed many musical work; for example she was a lecturer on the subject of the “Kabsaw” in northern Thailand. She also composes, records and broadcasts her music. Her highest achievement to date was an award for her use of the National Thai  language (2014).

            The Kabsaw Techniques of Teacher Payom Tinta use both language and voice to express her identity. It is a favorite of the people in  Phrae Province with forms of Sawpee that consisted of the following tunes, Tangdad, Japuu , Lamai , Kalong ChaingSan , Ngeaw tune, Aue , Burma tune and Phra Lor. Furthermore, Teacher Payom Tinta is a professional player of a form of Kabsaw Saw Long Nan that consists of DadPae, Long Nan tune and Lablang tunes. The main factor of kabsaw is the band that have the best musicians in Phrae Province consisting of three types of bands : PeeJum Bands, Saw Seung Band and Saw String Band.
