Development of a Bike Water pump with an Electric Generator in Self Reliance Concept for Cost Reduction of Agricultural Production

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a bike water pump with an electric generator in self-reliance concept for a new way to reduce a agricultural production cost. The bike was applied for a vegetable plot size of 5 m wide with 40 m long.

The results, by using the water pump at the highest test velocity of 15 km/h, were found that the bike water pump could transfer the highest water pressure at 8 sprinklers, in 20 minutes a plot. The sprinkle had interval was 2 meters and 40 centimeters high. An airware system was installed in the water pipe system that could increase the water transfer efficiency at the highest of 20%. In the part of  the electricity generation, the bike could produce the highest electricity at 5 A with 4 hr of electric charging. In the case of using a hub motor to lift the water pump, it was found that the electricity for utilization was 2 A as an hour of battery. For the engineering economy, the cost for the bike water pump and the electrical transmission system was 26,565 and 56,937 baht, respectively. The electricity cost was 2,600 baht/year. A payback period was 0.80 year or 9 month and 6 day and the depreciation was 2,164 baht/year.
