Factors affecting adaptation in Environmental Management to Low Carbon Society : a case study of resident in BangKapi Bangkok

Abstract

The research aims to study knowledge, awarenese, attitude and behavior of Bangkapi resident on low carbon society in energy consumption  and waste minimization and also to investigate factors affecting adaption to low carbon society in energy consumption  and waste minimization. then to suggest the adaptation measures to low carbon society  of Bangkapi resident. The 400 samples of resident in Bangkapi were collected using a questionnaire.The results of this study showed that a majority of the samples are male, single, between 21 to 30 years old. In addition, they obtained bachelor’s degree and have income between 10,001 to 20,000 Baht per month. Most of them are a company staff and live in Bangkapi for 0.08 to 18 years. Most of them live in an apartment and have a number of  family  from 1 to 4 people. According to their energy expense, most of them spend less than 1,000 Baht per month and for their transportation, they spend less than 1,000 Baht per month. The results also showed that their information perception on the low carbon society was mainly from television. Their knowledge, awareness on the low carbon society were high.Moreover, their adaptation to low carbon society was at high level. In terms of a significant level of the problem and obstruction such as lost the responsibility, familiarity living comfortably habits are the things that overlook this importance of waste minimization and saving energy, the sample focused on these problems and obstructions of low carbon society at a high level. From hypothesis testing, it can be summarized that Bangkapi who have different age, status, living duration, transportation expenditure have different adaptation behaviors on low carbon society. In addition, Bangkapi resident’s knowledge, awareness, attitude relate to the adaption behaviors on low carbon society. Furthermore, Bangkapi resident’s knowledge on low carbon society relate to attitude on low carbon society at significance level of 0.05
