Development of Biodiesel Process from Crude Palm Oil to Encourage Small-Scale Palm Oil Industry in Trat Province

Abstract

The research aimed to develop the production of biodiesel from crude palm oil, to study the efficiency and quality of biodiesel production by comparing before and after the development of the small palm oil industry for biodiesel production scheme in Trat province. The study analyzed the production of biodiesel from crude palm oil by observing activities from the model scheme at Oil Extraction Plant and Biodiesel Production Factory of Chaipattana Foundation in Hua Hin District, Prachuap Khiri Khan. The results of the study and the development of biodiesel production from crude palm oil revealed that : the production could be developed to increase its production efficiency 120%. Manpower decreased 27.27% and the production duration decreased 35.31%.       The cost of biodiesel production was 55.34 baht/liter, after the development, the cost of production decreased to 26.83 baht/liter. The biodiesel product had the qualification based on the proclamation of the Department of Energy Business, Ministry of Energy in 2006 with regard to the nature and quality of biodiesel for agricultural engines (Biodiesel Community).
