A Development of Academic Administration Manual for Small Sized Schools under the Office of Chumphon Primary Education Service Area 2

Abstract

             The objectives of this research were 1) to study the components of academic administration for small sized schools under the Office of Chumphon Primary Education Area 2, 2) to create and develop a manual for academic administration for small schools under the Office of Chumphon Primary Educational Service Area 2, and 3) to examine the appropriateness of the academic administration manual for small sized schools under the Office of Chumphon Primary Educational Service Area 2 combining and quantitative research methods. The research consisted of 3 steps. The first step consisted of studying the elements of the Academic Administration Manual for small schools under the Office of Chumphon Primary Educational Service Area 2 using related documents and research. The second step was to : Develop a manual for academic administration for small sized schools under the Office of Chumphon Primary Educational Service Area 2, using EDFR technique. The sample consisted of 17 experts.The third step was to examine the suitability and feasibility of the academic administration manual for small sized schools under the Office of Chumphon Primary Education Service Area 2, the sample group was 56 administrators and academic supervisors in a small sized school under the Office of Chumphon Primary Educational Service Area 2. Data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation and use content analysis for qualitative data.

            The results of the research were as follows: 1) Academic administration manual for small  sized schools. under the Office of Chumphon Primary Educational Service Area 2, the researcher conducted a content analysis based on the concept, theories and related research consisted of 4 main components as follows: (1) academic leadership, (2) academic missions and frameworks in schools; (3) processes for developing academic administration, and (4) participation in academic administration. 2) Regarding the development of the academic administration manual, it showed that every indicator in all core components was suitable and each core component consisted of 23 sub-components and 121 indicators, which the consensus of the experts revealed that the suitability was in a high level and in the highest level. 3) Educational institution administrators and academic supervisors found that the manual for academic administration for small sized schools under the Chumphon Educational Service Area Office, Region 2, the overall suitability was at the highest level. When considering each item, it was found that all items were at the highest level in order of the mean from highest to lowest in three sequences, and clear objectives. The most average followed by the use of appropriate language and the Academic Management Implementation Manual for small sized schools are helpful, respectively.
