Development of a Causal Relationship Model of Factors Influencing to College Adjustment of Undergraduate Students, Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research was conducted to develop a causal relationship model of factors influencing college adjustment. The samples used in the research were 221 undergraduate students of Rambhai Barni Rajabhat University, gaining from multi-stage sampling technique. The research instruments consisted of questionnaire on the college adjustment, self-esteem, academic self-efficacy, parental attachment, attitude towards teaching and learning, and separation-individuation. The statistics used to analyze the data were confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation model.
The results found that the covariance between the studied factors and the college adjustment ranged between 0.404 and 0.769; all of which were statistical significance at a .01 level. When considering the causal relationship, it was found that all factors had an overall influence on the college adjustment with statistical significance at a .01 level; most of which had a positive influence, except for the independent secession that has a negative influence. The most influential factors were the attitude towards teaching and learning, followed by self-esteem with a size influence of 0.625 and 0.413, respectively. All of these five factors together explained the variance of college adjustment of the undergraduate students at 71.30%
