Management of Community-Based Research Project in Upgrading the Grassroot Economy by Strengthening Communities and Reducing Inequality in the Central Region

Abstract

          This research objectives are: 1) to manage the research plan by strengthening communities and reducing inequality and 2) to investigate guidelines to enhance the community’s potential using community-based research

The researcher used a participatory action research (PAR) approach to work with key informants, researchers from all 10 subprojects. The research process was divided into three main phases: (a) the upstream stage included developing research agenda with interested and qualified researchers and organizing a forum to examine a project proposal to assure its quality; (b) the midstream stage included a knowledge support session, knowledge sharing activities, site visits, follow-up evaluations, and presentations of progress reports; (c) the downstream stage included the development of data analysis and synthesis, research report writing, forums for the complete report review, and research work publications.

         The research results revealed that:

 (a) In managing the research plan to achieve the set goals, four areas of management must be attained: project management, knowledge management, personnel development management, and network management must be attained.

 (b) Promotion of the community-based research processes to address problems and empower communities to become self-reliant in the economic dimension among community researchers and partners can be achieved by encouraging the collaboration of two different tracks of community researchers, fulfilling knowledge, promoting CBR, and empowering groups/networks.
