THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNET ADDICTION BEHAVIOR SCALE FOR STUDENTS IN MATTHAYOMSUKSA 1-3 UNDER THE SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE 18

Abstract

     The purposes of this research were to develope an internet addiction behavior scale for students in Matthayomsuksa 1-3 under the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 18, to determine the quality of the developed internet addiction behavior scale, and to develop norm of the internet addiction behavior scale for the students in Matthayomsuksa 1-3. The research subjects were 1,125 Matthayomsuksa 1-3  students studying in the schools under the Office of Secondary Educational Service Area Office 18 in the academic year 2013 from 50 schools through multi-stage random sampling. The instrument used for data collection in this study was the internet addiction behavior scale

     The results of the study were as follows:

1. The internet addiction behavior scale consisted of 53 items of six rating scales


2. The developed internet addiction behavior scale for students in matthayomsuksa 1-3 in the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 18 met the acceptable quality criteria; the content validity of the test determined by the experts showed the index objective of congruence (IOC) of .80 – 1.00, the power of discrimination of .34 - .72 and the test reliability of 0.92. Its construct validity index of congruence between the reach model and the empirical data through confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) indicated its goodness of fit index (GFI) of 0.90, the Chi-Square test ( ) of 2841.03, the degree of freedom (df) of 975, /df of 2.914, the square root mean error of approximation (RMSEA) of 0.045, and the statistical significance (p-value) of 0.00000.

      3. The norms of the development of internet addiction behavior scale for students in matthayomsuksa 1-3 in the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 18, as compared with the established norms, were mostly found at a medium level.
