Learning Management Using Inquiry-Based Learning (5E) Combined with Mind Mapping to Improve Learning Achievement and Analytical Thinking Ability in History among Mathayomsuksa 3 Students

Abstract
This study aimed to: 1) compare Mathayomsuksa 3 students’ learning achievement in History before and after learning through Inquiry-Based Learning (5E) combined with Mind Mapping; and
2) compare their analytical thinking ability before and after the intervention. The sample consisted of 40 students from Mathayomsuksa 3/2 at Bansuan (Jan Anusorn) School, selected through cluster random sampling. The study employed a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The research instruments included: 1) eight lesson plans based on Inquiry-Based Learning (5E) combined with Mind Mapping; 2) a 30-item four-option multiple-choice achievement test (IOC = 0.50–1.00; difficulty = 0.38–0.77; discrimination = 0.31–0.69; reliability = 0.87); and 3) a 20-item four-option multiple-choice analytical thinking ability test (IOC = 0.50–1.00; difficulty = 0.46–0.77; discrimination index = 0.38–0.85; reliability = 0.81). Data were analyzed using the mean, standard deviation, and a dependent-samples t-test.
The results indicated that:
1. The students’ posttest achievement scores were significantly higher than their pretest scores at the .05 level.
2. The students’ posttest analytical thinking ability scores were significantly higher than their pretest scores at the .05 level.
