Enhancing the Competitiveness of Logistics Transport by Trucks Phetchabun Province with Standard Q to Support the Liberalization of Transport When Visiting the AEC

Abstract

This research aimed to develop the logistics business for transport by trucks in Phetchabun Province to be certified for the quality standard of truck transport service  (Q standard) from the Department of Land Transport.  The study population was Suntanee Logistics Company as purposive population defined by the Transportation Bureau of Phetchabun Province. The research instruments included (1) interview questionnaires (2) quality standard of truck transport service evaluation forms. The data collection method consisted of group discussion, in-depth interviews and participatory observation.  The data were analyzed by descriptive analysis showing the analysis results inform of tables with logical explanations.

The findings revealed that the operational context of Suntanee Logistics Company Limited registered as a limited corporation with the registered capital of 100 million baht operating transport by trucks with 26 employees carrying 4 types of agricultural products including rice, beans, corn and cassava. The total number of trucks with permission was 41.  When considering based on the indicators of Q standard, the enterprise was faced problems with operational planning, staffing and transport operations.  The readiness assessment results of according to the indicators of Q standard before entering the research process showed that the enterprise was ready for an assessment with 8 requirements of 24 requirements, representing 33.33 percent.The development approach definition was found that the enterprise needed to develop (1) by organizing a meeting to create understanding of standard requirements for entrepreneurs and (2) by allowing the research to visit the enterprise to give advices and to be as a consultant for collecting and keeping evidence document in accordance with the requirements of quality standards of truck transport service.

The performance results of enhancing the competitiveness indicated that after entering the research process, the enterprise was ready to apply for a certification with 24 requirements (100.0 percent) and the achievement after the research was found that Suntanee Logistics Company Limited was certified for the quality standard of truck transport (Q standard) with the certificate no. Khorbor. Sornorkhor. 00045/2559 affecting 5 years.
