The Attitude and Participation in Community Based Tourism Management in Bang Krabue Sub-District, Sam Khok District, Pathum Thani Province

Abstract

            This research purposes to 1) study the attitudes toward community–based tourism in Bangkrabue subdistrict Sam Khok district Pathum Thani province; 2) study the participation of community–based tourism management in Bangkrabue subdistrict Sam Khok district Pathum Thani province. The quantitative research method was used to collect the data by questionnaire. The questionnaire was a set of checklists to interpret percentages and rating scales to interpret mean () and standard deviation (S.D.).  The 350 residents in the Bangkrabue subdistrict were selected by convenience random sampling. The results revealed that 1) the Bangkrabue subdistrict community has an attitude toward community–based tourism at a moderate level ( = 3.35, S.D. = 0.59). When categorized into items found that the 3 items at the high level are building community to be a historical attraction to support careers for local people ( = 3.91, S.D. = 0.78) followed by the community–based tourism creates more job employment ( = 3.85, S.D. = 0.68) tourism makes local people care for local custom and tradition ( = 3.84, S.D. = 0.77), respectively; 2) Bangkrabue subdistrict community take participate in community–based tourism management at a moderate level ( = 3.43, S.D. = 0.46). When categorized into items found that the 3 items at the high level are public sector and community participated in making a travel map to an attraction ( = 3.65, S.D. = 0.59) followed by giving suggestions to activities development or attractions ( = 3.58, S.D. = 0.62) community have a variety of activity ( = 3.54, S.D. = 0.66), respectively.
