Development of Learning Package to Enhance Basic Chinese Vocabulary of Fifth Grade Students of Prasarnmit Demonstration School (Elementary): A Case Study of the Different Students

Abstract

            The objectives of this study were 1) to develop a learning package for teaching basic Chinese vocabulary at Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit Demonstration School (Primary) 2) to study the pretest and posttest of using the learning package for teaching vocabulary basic Chinese vocabulary. The sample group was grade 5 students who has mixed abilities at Srinakharinwirot University Prasarnmit Demonstration School (Elementary) and enrolled the basic Chinese as an additional subject in the second semester of the academic year 2022. Fifty grade 5 students in 5/1, 5/2, 5/7, and 5/8 were the sample using cluster random sampling and sampling unit technique. After that, a random assignment was taken for grade 5/1 and 5/2 students, which consisted of 25 students as a sample group. The duration of the experiment was 15 periods of 60 minutes each. The research instruments were the basic Chinese communication ability test, a learning package for enhancing the ability of basic Chinese vocabulary, and a pretest and posttest basic Chinese vocabulary test. The findings of the study revealed that 1. The learning package for teaching basic Chinese vocabulary had the quality according to the criteria; 2. Grade 5 students with different knowledge posttest scores were higher than pretest scores at the .05 level of significance.
