An Analysis of Language Uses in Research Article Abstracts in Q1 Journals in the Field of Computational Linguistics from Evaluation of Scopus Preview in 2023

Abstract
This research was qualitative research by analyzing language uses in terms of tenses, voices, and types of sentences used in research abstracts. The purposive sampling was used to choose 19 abstracts of research articles published in Q1 Journals in the Field of Computational Linguistics that was evaluated from Scopus Preview in 2023. The analysis found the occurrences of Present Simple at 90.38%, Past Simple at 4.81%, Present Perfect at 3.85%, Present Continuous at 0.64% and Future Perfect at 0.32%. The occurrences of voices were 85.20% of Active Voice and 14.80% of Passive Voice. The occurrences of types of sentences were 57.78% of Complex Sentence, 21.48% of Simple Sentence, 11.11% of Compound-Complex Sentence and 9.63% of Compound Sentence.
