Language Strategies Used by Agricultural Guest Speakers in Rong Kwang District, Phrae province

Abstract

                   This article aimed to analyze the linguistic strategies that present agricultural concepts and processes according to the approach of discourse studies. The data used in the analysis were texts recorded from the interviews and lectures of agricultural guest speakers in Rong Kwang District, Phrae Province, collected from May - August 2021. The results revealed that the linguistic strategies for communicating agricultural discourse included the starting and ending, topic and shifting topic, given information and new information, cohesion. Moreover, the aforementioned language strategy had presented 4 concepts in agricultural discourse namely: 1) a set of the agricultural knowledge ideas, 2) a set of the farmers’ ideas 3) a set of views on agricultural ways of life, and 4) a set of the views on agricultural factors. However, all sets of concepts have reflected ideology, community agricultural practices, social practice, development powers between agricultural community networks and government policies which play important role in presenting "Agricultural ideals"
