Developing the Life Quality of Elderly in Pathum Thani Province

Abstract

               The research purposes were (1) to study the levels of life quality of elderly in Pathum Thani Province; (2) to analyze the management the life quality of elderly, development and social protection of the elderly affecting the life quality of elderly in Pathum Thani Province; and (3) to study guidelines for developing the life quality of elderly in Pathum Thani Province. This was the mixed research method between the quantitative method and qualitative method. The population was the people aged 60 years and over, named in the household registration in Chaiyaphum Province. The quantitative sample group was the 400 people, the research instrument was the questionnaire; the qualitative sample group was the 20 people, the research instrument was the in-depth interview form. The data analysis statistics were the frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, multiple regression analysis, and correlation analysis.

               The research findings were: (1) the life quality of elderly in Pathum Thani Province found the overall was at high level; the descending mean were the physical aspect, the mental aspect, the social relationship aspect, and the environmental aspect respectively; (2) the management, development and social protection of the elderly in terms of the promotion, pension assistance, transformation, education, religion, information, and housing assistance affected the life quality of elderly in Pathum Thani Province at the statistical significance level of .05; and (3) should promote income, suitable and safe accommodation, both receiving useful information for the elderly, supporting suitable occupations, enabling the elderly to be self-reliant, and promoting welfare related to livelihoods for the elderly to have the good quality of life and live happily
