Transformational Leadership and Public Participation Affecting Local Development of Local Government Organizations in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province

Abstract

         The research purposes were to (1) study the local development levels of local government organizations in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province; (2) analyze the transformational leadership and public participation affecting local development of local government organizations in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province (3) propose the guidelines for local development of local government organizations in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This was the quantitative and qualitative research. The population was the people aged 18 years and over, had voting rights in the municipalities of Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The quantitative research sample group was the 400 people and the research instrument was the questionnaire; the qualitative research sample group was the 20 people and the research instrument was in-depth interview form. The data analysis statistics were the frequency, percentage, standard deviation, and multiple regression analysis.

                The research findings were: (1) the local development of local government organizations in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province found the overall was at a high level; the descending mean were the aspect of educational development, the aspect of social development, the aspect of continuing the royal initiative, the aspect of tourism development, the aspect of development of tourism-religion-culture-traditions and sports, the aspect of natural resource conservation and environment, the aspect of agricultural development, the aspect of good governance, the aspect of security of life and property, the aspect of infrastructure development, and the aspect of public health development respectively; (2) The transformational leadership and public participation in in terms of building morale, participation in setting goals, participation in decision making, participation in change, being a good role model, and creating inspiration affected the local development of local government organizations in Pak Thong Chai District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province with statistical significance level .05; and (3) this research findings had recommendations for promoting the potential and developing transformational leadership in order to keep up with the changing environment, strengthen morale, be a role model for local development and promote public participation for sustainable local development together.
