การก่อร่างสร้างตัวตนในเรื่องสั้น “ผ้าห่ม” ของอิสมัต ชุกไต

บทความนี้ทำการอ่านสำรวจเรื่องสั้นอันอื้อฉาวของอิสมัต ชุกไตเรื่อง “ผ้าห่ม” ซึ่งเกี่ยวกับผู้ไร้เสียงที่ถูกกดทับเบียดบังโดยวาทกรรมประเพณีนิยมและความเป็นสมัยใหม่ ตัวละครหลักของเรื่อง เบกัม ชาน ติดอยู่ในกับดักของสมรภูมิอุดมการณ์สองขั้วตรงข้าม ระหว่างความเชื่อทางจารีตประเพณีและอุดมการณ์ว่าด้วยอิสรภาพส่วนบุคคล เมื่อไร้ซึ่งความหวังและเสียงพูด เธอจึงพูดผ่านร่างกายของตัวเองและผ่านความสัมพันธ์ทางเพศใต้ผ้าห่มกับสาวใช้วรรณะต่ำ เพื่อก่อร่างสร้างตัวตนอันเป็นเนื้อแท้ในฐานะมนุษย์ผู้มีความปรารถนา ทั้งนี้ยังพบว่าสาวใช้ผู้ถูกสร้างให้มีลักษณะอันพร่าเลือนคาบเกี่ยวอยู่ระหว่างพรมแดนแห่งความเป็นมนุษย์และสัตว์นั้น ได้ช่วยให้นายหญิงของตนก่อร่างตัวตนใหม่ขึ้นมา เมื่อทั้งสองร่างที่ถูกกดทับนี้ได้ผสานหลอมรวมกันและถูกเปิดเผยในที่สุด
