Abstract

This research is aimed to study opinion of elderly
people on environmental management by sub-district
local administrative organization (S-LAO) and to
survey environmental management for the elderly.
Questionnaire was used to collect data from 400
samples of elderly in four regions of Thailand. A field
study and interviews to related people on environmental
management to eight S-LAO in four regions were also
done. Data analysis using descriptive statistics i.e.
frequency, percentage and using describing interview
results was undertaken. The results of this research
showed that, the elderly have high opinion on
environmental management as the S-LAO havecontinuously carried out activities on environmental
management. It was found that the majority for elderly
live in two-storey house, lack of equipment and place
for having recreation activities which are not
appropriate for the elderly. There are a few problems
on environmental management e.g. disaster waste. The
elderly have behavior on health and environmental
support and they request for health care activities
supported by S-LAO apart from the elderly’s
allowance. In addition S-LAO should have for
instance, waste bank project, waste management
campaign project, increase forest in communities.
