Abstract

This research sought to 1) study the performance efficiency of nursing assistants in private hospitals in Bangkok and metropolitan region, and 2) to study factors affecting their performance efficiency. The two-hundred and forty-eight samples were nurse assistants working in private hospitals who were selected by multi-stage random sampling method. The online questionnaire was used for data collection. Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. The research results show that the performance efficiency of nursing assistants was at moderate level in overall. Salary was found to be a personal factor affecting the performance effciency. Organizational management factors such commanding, controlling, and planning also affected their performance effciency. These four factors could all predict overall performance effciency of nursing assistants at 55.40% and at .01 level of signifcance. These research findings suggest that private hospital administrators make use of the predictive factors to design policies to enhance the performance efficiency of nurse assistants in Bangkok and metropolitan region.
