Guidelines for Mobilizing the University of the Third Age Contributing to the Promotion of Lifelong Learning of Thai Elderly

The study aims to synthesize models of university of the third age for lifelong learning of Thai aging, and propose guidelines for mobilizing the university of the third age contributing to the promotion of lifelong learning of Thai elderly. Research instruments consisted of an analysis form, interview questions and focus group discussion questions with 30 experts in the field. The findings show four main Universities of the Third Age models for promoting lifelong learning: 1) university short course programs model; 2) aging schools model; 3) leisure or informal learning activities model; and 4) virtual learning model (vU3A). In addition, there are six essential implementation guidelines for promoting the University of the Third Age for lifelong learning of Thai aging include 1) policies development, 2) philosophies and principles, 3 curriculum and learning activities, 4) human resource development, 5) network and partnership, and 6) administrative management. It is expected that the University of the Third Age is the key mechanism to promote active aging in Thailand.
