The Ghost Stories on The Ghost Radio: Beliefs and Storytelling tactics for connecting the narrative

Abstract

This academic article aims to analyze beliefs and storytelling tactics for connecting the narratives that appear in the ghost stories on The Ghost Radio Program by choosing to study from Khun Ball’s stories as a popular storyteller of 8 programs. The study found that the eight stories present three types of beliefs: Beliefs about behaviors that lead to ghost encounters, Going into a specific place or area, Insulting the soul, and the spirit having a personal vendetta. Beliefs about the origin of ghosts namely death is in that place. And Beliefs about problem solving including prayers, superstitious rituals, and offering of charity. In addition, in the part of storytelling tactics to connect storytelling, it was found that 3 literary elements were time setting, the relationship between the character and the narrator, and location setting respectively. However storytelling tactics to connect storytelling by the narrator is at the center of the connection between the characters in each story, time setting and location setting in which characters and narrators are involved all this is consistent with creating an atmosphere in the ghost story that makes the listener feel more involved.
