Abstract

The objective of this research were to  study of the level of expected and actual states of the research management in Loei Rajabhat University in 5 components ie. ;   1) lecturers,  2) research organization,  3) research quality management, 4) research  administrators, and 5) research networks, and to study guidelines for developing research management of Loei Rajabhat University. This survey research used mixed methodologies of quantitative and qualitative methods which comprised: 1) documentary reviews, 2) an institutional survey ,  3) an in – depth interview of the experts.   

Results of the institute survey revealed that the level of research management of Loei Rajabhat University was holistically found at a moderate level (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 3.13).  Considering in details, each item of research administration was found at a moderate level as well. Items ranked from the highest to lowest mean score were: research organization (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 3.32), research quality management (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 3.26), lecturers (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 3.24), research administrators (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 3.10) and research networks (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 2.68).

The results from questionnaire analysis showed that stakeholder expectations of research management of Loei  Rajabhat  University was holistically rated at a high level (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.19). Considering in details, each item of expectations was rated at a high level as well. Items ranked from the highest to lowest mean score were: research  administrators (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.24), research organization (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.21), lecturers (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.20), research quality management (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.20) and research networks (gif.latex?\bar{X} = 4.11).

The  comparison of expected and actual states of the research management in Loei  Rajabhat  University in 5 components of: 1) lecturer, 2) research organization,  3) research quality management,  4) research  administrator, and  5) research networks were different with statistical significance at the .05 level.

Guidelines for developing research management of Loei Rajabhat University were:  1) extend human resource development for research into all groups related, including: administrators, lecturers, officials research stakeholders, 2)  restructure research tasks  in every level, including that of: research and development institute, faculties and other related organization, 3) enhance lecturers to do researches and have students take parts in the research, 4) propose the policy in research administration and evaluate the policy every 3 year  and 5) create more research networks with universities, business sectors, government sectors, private sectors in the communities and other related sectors nationally and internationally.
