The Impact of Tourism Development on Residents’ Community Life in Chanthaburi Province, Thailand

The purposes of the research were to analyze the exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the impacts of tourism on Chantaburi residents’ perception. This research is a quantitative research method. Data were collected from 400 residents who are older than 20 years old and live in 3 communities (Landless village, Nong Bua Thai Dessert Market and Koh Jik village). The survey with purposive sampling was utilized in this study. EFA and CFA were analyzed and verify the factor structure of a set of observed variables. The results show the components of the impact of tourism community which are economic impacts, cultural impacts, social impacts, environmental impacts and political impacts. The model in accordance was fit with the empirical data with c2/df = 2.08, TLI = 0.904, CFI =0.919, NNFI = 0.904 และ RMSEA = 0.072. Therefore, the model can be used to measure the Impact of tourism development on residents' perception of community life. In addition, economies and cultures were presented in positive impacts on local residents whereas negative impacts were shown in societies, environments and politics in communities.
