The Developing Health Promoting Activities for the Elderly People ThroughThe Participation of Ban Sa Kaew Community, Sa Kaew Sub-district,Pueai Noi District, Khon Kean Province

Abstract

This study was action research. To explore a model of health promoting activities for the development
of the elderly through the participation of Ban Sa Kaew community, Sa Kaew sub-district, Pueai Noi district,
Khon Kean province. The participants of this study consisted of a village headman, assistant headman,
municipality members, Village Health Volunteer representatives, village committees, elderly representatives,
and public health officers, totaling 22 individuals. The sample was selected based on purposive sampling.
Also 77 stakeholders and beneficiaries were studied. Data was collected from interview, observation, group
dis caes. Data was analyzed through percentage, mean, standard deviation, and content analysis.
Research consisted of a 4 step process. This included 1) the appointment of a working group, 2) the context
of the group plans, 3) supervision performance, and 4) summary of operating results. The process resulted
in a corresponding understanding of the situation and problems of the elderly in the area, jointly defined
programs/projects to develop elderly care in the area. It also provides the chance for community leaders and
juveniles to take an active part in caring for the elderly. The participants could implement three activities. The
process resulted in the elderly were satisfied to develop activities to promote healthy aging at a high level
(Mean = 2.95, SD. = 0.18).
In conclusion the right approach is now open to all partners to play a role of responsibility and co-operation.
The mechanism is now there to cultivate the citizens in the area to be aware of and take part in events. To
develop the mechanism to instill public awareness in the area and take part in activities and have a sense of
ownership and to solve problems together.
