The Processes of Identity Creation of Senior Monks in the Southern Isaan Thailand

Abstract
In the aspect of Dharma propagation, the senior monks in southern Northeast instructed people to do contemplation, conserve traditions, and they organized projects to teach morality to people. People participated in mediation, concentration, and making merits. Activities such as Magha Puja, Vesak Puja, Kathin Ceremony, Buddhist’ instruction sessions were also conducted. For faith power formation, the monks created sacred objects to generate morale and protect people from sadness, frights, and hardship. The sacred things also supposedly brought happiness to people’s mind.
