The Scenario of Mathematical Thinking of Prathomsuksa School in The Next Decade
Main Article Content
Abstract
The objectives of this futures research were to present the scenario of mathematical thinking of Prathomsuksa School in the next decade. The research methodology used future research by applying EDFR techniques. The key informants were 20 experts in mathematics, selected by the purposive sampling. The tools used in the research were document analysis form, In-depth interview form and questionnaires. Analyzing data by descriptive statistics, median, absolute value of the difference between median and mode, Interquartile range.
The finding revealed that
1. Mathematical thinking for elementary students in the next decade consisted of three components:
1) mathematical knowledge: student must have knowledge of the number and algebra, measurement and geometry, statistics and probability 2) performance in mathematics students must have competency thus mathematical problem solving, mathematical reasoning, communicating mathematical ideas, link mathematical knowledge, presentation representing mathematical ideas, creativity and 3) attitudes toward mathematics student must have the following features: a commitment to do the math, flexibility in solving math problems, esteem of mathematics, to see how important the work, to see the importance of cooperation
2. Educational management for the development of mathematical thinking for elementary school students in the next decade comprised five components: (1) objectives (2) knowledge (3) learning activity management, the process of learning have 6. Step as follow, first step to stimulate thought / motivate attention, second step to propose and understand the problem, third step to planning solution, forth step to presents plant, fifth step to proceed to solve the problem, sixth step to carries solutions linked to real life. (4) Measurement and evaluation and (5) Media / learning resources.
