Abstract

The purpose of the research was to analyze current conditions, 1) To study the context. problems and needs of the model developed by the community with the participation of the village. 35 of Nong Etu, Pak Chong, Champasak Province, Lao PDR., 2) To create a model of community development by the participation of the village. 35 Nong Etu, Pak Chong, Champasak Province, Lao PDR., 3) To try a model out on the target population. The research methodology was divided into three phases:


  1. Pre-research phase focused on improving relationships of researcher, community leaders, family leaders and officers. The activities consisted of 1) improving relationships with community, 2) surveying and studying community and 3) preparing staff and collaborative networks.

  2. Research phase focusing on designing and developing a model of community economic development. The activities included study and analysis of 1) community problems and Diagnosis 2) design and development of a model.

    3. Model implementation and evaluation focused on evaluating the model by comparing the outcomes before and after using the model. The evaluation focused on 6 dependent variables: family income, family expense,


amount of crops, number of animals, mushroom, amount of consuming products and satisfaction. MANOVA (Repeated Measure) was employed for the comparative analysis.


            Results of the research were as follows :


            1.   The results of the study. community with the participation of the village. 35 of Nong Etu, Pak Chong, Champasak Province, Lao PDR., 1) The results of the community context study revealed that the social potential of the village facilitates the development of the community as a prototype, Because of the availability of space and personnel in the community. 2) The study found that the problem, People lack knowledge in development, Not enough income to live, Household expenditure is higher than income, Lack of stable operation, People lack of satisfaction in living in the community, Less Participation, 3) The results of the analysis found that People want to have the knowledge to earn income for the household, Need to know how to reduce household expenditures, Want to have a career in the community, Want to be satisfied with the knowledge, have less income, Have a career in the community, And want more community participation.            2.   The study showed that the model of community economic development for sustainable economic self- sufficiency consisted of 10 activities : 1) The tea seedlings, 2) Tourism Management, 3) Community Product Distribution. 4) Community Product Distribution, 5) Establishment of Learning Center, 6) Processing and processing of fruits and vegetables, 7) Coffee and Tea Design and Packaging, 8) Inspection and Evaluation of Community Product Processing Groups, 9) Inspection and Evaluation of Community Product Processing Groups, 10) Public Relations Center,             3.          The results of the experiment, It is estimated that before and after the operation, After the experiment, community development was better than before the experiment. The results of the research phase 3 The results from the comparison of each variable. There was a statistically significant difference at .05 level between before and after the experiment. It shows that after using the development model, knowledge is increased, family income, family expense, Increased occupation, Increased satisfaction , Increased participation, This is based on assumptions set.
