Development of Mathematics Classroom in Teaching Professional Learning School Using Innovation of Lesson Study and Open Approach: Case Study of Dongnoi School
Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this research was to develop of mathematics classroom in teacher professional learning school by using innovative classroom Lesson Study and Open Approach. The data were collected from Ban Dong Noi School, Nakhon Phanom Province. The target group consisted of 6 persons of Lesson Study team and 21 students of Prathomsuksa 2. The research tools were interview forms, observation forms, a camera recorder, IC recorder, a video recorder, and 8 periods of lesson plans for Prathomsuksa 2 in the fifteenth unit of learningof triangles and squares. The collected data were analyzed based on the conceptual frameworks of the innovative classroom Lesson Study (Inprasitha, 2015).The study results were: Step 1) Collaboratively plan, found thattheteachers created problem situations that are consistent with the stories of students’ daily life. During the creation of lesson plan, teachers experiment with solving problems on their own to reach students’ ideas and students’ difficulties Step2) Collaboratively do, at this stage, Open Approach as a teaching approach. Teacher had given students time to solve problems on their own and facilitated to students to express ideas through speaking and writing, for observers to record the data to reflection. Finally, in Step 3) Collaboratively reflection, the lesson study team reflects on students’ ideas and students’ difficulties, materials used, problems and approach to improving the class. For students’ learning, it was found that students were greatly given the opportunity to develop their mathematical problem solving process.
